Lion's Mane Grow Kit Instructions

Guide for growing lions mane mushrooms with spray and grow kit. 1 Slice X in plastic 2 Spray with water 3 Harvest in 2 weeks

  1. Open the front flap of your lion's mane grow kit and cut along the dotted lines. Close the mushroom kit.
  2. Slice an 'X' into the plastic underneath with a sharp knife.
  3. Fill a spray bottle with water and spray where you sliced your 'X' at least twice a day - more if you live in a  dry climate. You should give your lion's mane grow kit 8-10 sprays each time you mist it. (If mushrooms start to grow but dry up and die, your growing conditions are too dry & you should make a humidity tent.)
  4. Place your mushroom kit in a warm, humid part of your home and out of direct sunlight. It takes 5-14 days for 'pins' or 'baby lion's mane mushrooms' to show.
  5. Harvest 2-3 weeks after pin formation or when lion's mane teeth start elongating.

How to Make a Humidity Tent

If you live in a dry or climate, it's a good idea to cover your lion's mane mushroom grow kit with a humidity tent to help keep moisture levels higher.

  1. Take a trash bag or other large loose bag and cut plenty of ½ inch holes throughout it. THIS IS IMPORTANT: Lion's mane mushrooms breathe in oxygen and exhale CO2 just like we do. They will suffocate and abort if there is not enough airflow. 
  2. Gently place the bag over your lion's mane mushroom kit and mist the inside of the bag every day. When you start to see baby mushrooms form (pinning), you can remove the bag and keep misting the mushroom kit. 

Pro Tip: You can also use a clear plastic tote with holes cut in it instead of a plastic bag. This is a great option if you are going to be ordering recurring lion's mane grow kits in the future. 

Storage 

We recommend using your lion's mane mushroom grow kit upon arrival for best results. If you're not ready to use your lions mane grow kit immediately, it can be stored in a cool dry place, out of direct sunlight, for up to 6 months. Keep in mind that mushroom mycelium is alive!

Lion's Mane mushroom grow kits can be refrigerated for up to 6 months (preferred storage method if possible).
