How to use your mushroom growing kits
- Open the front of your mushroom grow kits. Remove the spray bottle. Then slice an 'X' into the plastic of the mushroom kit with a sharp knife.
- Fill the spray bottle included with water and spray your mushroom kit where you sliced your 'X'. You should spray your mushroom kit at least twice a day (more if you live in a dry climate). If you can spray your blue oyster mushroom kit 4-5 times a day it will be much happier. You should give your kit 8 -12 sprays each time you mist it.
(If mushrooms start to grow but dry up and die, your growing conditions are too dry and you should make a humidity tent.) - Place your grow kits in a warm, humid part of your home and out of direct sunlight. It can take 5-14 days for 'pins' or 'baby mushrooms' to form.
- Harvest:
- Pink oyster mushrooms in 4-5 days after pin formation.
- Blue oyster mushrooms in 5-7 days after pin formation.
- Lion's mane mushrooms in 14-21 days after pin formation.

No...unless you want bigger, fresher mushrooms.
Our grow kits are made to be used without a humidity tent, but having 100% humidity creates a growing environment for mushrooms to flourish.
Our flexible humidity tents have ventilation holes for fresh air exchange (mushrooms breath oxygen just like we do) and are easy to store when not in use.
They also help protect and keep clean your grow kit, table top, kitchen counter, or shelf.
If you live in a dry climate, it's a good idea to cover your mushroom growing kits with a humidity tent to help keep moisture levels higher.
You can always make your own out of a plastic bag or clear plastic bin.
How to Make a Humidity Tent:
- Take a trash bag or other large loose bag and cut plenty of ½ inch holes throughout it. THIS IS IMPORTANT: Mushrooms breathe in oxygen and exhale CO2 just like we do. They will suffocate and abort if there is not enough airflow.
- Gently place the bag over your mushroom kit and mist the inside of the bag every day. When you start to see baby mushrooms form (pinning), you can remove the bag and keep misting the mushroom grow kit.
Pro Tip: You can also use a clear plastic tote with holes cut in it instead of a plastic bag. This is a great option if you are going to be ordering recurring mushroom grow kits in the future.

If you would like to wait, you can store your lion's mane grow kits or blue and gold oyster mushroom kits for up to 6 months in the refrigerator or a dry, cool, dark space inside.

How frequently (and how much) do I need to water my mushroom kit?
You should spray your mushroom kit at least twice a day. If you can spray it four to five times a day, your grow kit will be much happier.
If your block appears dry, you should add more water. We recommend 8-10 sprays each time.
A humidity tent will help keep up the humidity level in between sprays and is helpful to us.
How many rounds (or flushes) of fresh mushrooms will my grow kit produce?
We 100% guarantee your 1st flush (harvest) of mushrooms.
Your grow kit can easily produce a 2nd and 3rd round of fresh mushrooms (even a 4th if you push it).
Just keep in mind that every new flush of mushrooms is subsequently smaller than the previous. Your first harvest should be 2 to 2.5 pounds of fresh mushrooms.
We recommend getting a new grow kit after your second harvest if you are trying to grow mushrooms as a consistent food source to cook with.
When done, crumble up your mycelium block and use it as garden soil or compost!

How long does it take to grow mushrooms?
Most oyster mushroom grow kits have the first harvest (or “flush” in mushroom terms) ready in 7-10 days of starting your grow kit.
Lion’s Mane can take a little longer and is usually ready to harvest in 2-3 weeks of starting your grow kit.

Each round of fresh mushrooms is smaller than the previous but keep spraying your kits to get as much as you can out of them.
Is it safe to grow mushrooms in my house?
Yes. If you are worried about mushroom spores in your house don't be! Mushrooms should be harvested or picked before they spore. If you don't catch them in time, they produce a miniscule amount you can easily wipe up.
If you have mushrooms growing out of the walls of your house, you need to clean your house more often (respectfully😅).
A humidity tent also helps contain any unwanted spores.
